It is one of the oldest cities in West Africa and the historic centre of Hausa trade and learning[^1]. [Bitcoin Obama](https://bitcoinobama.com/), the Nigerian shiller of [HarryPotterObamaSonic10Inu](https://bitcoinobama.com/hpos10i) ($BITCOIN), says he lives there. His X location reads Kano, and in 2024 he announced a joke run for “the 11th assembly representative of the Nigerian National Assembly delegation of Kano”[^2]. The claim is his own. The wiki has no independent confirmation of where he lives. Pieces of its old earth walls and gates such as Kofar Nasarawa still stand. It is known for the Kurmi Market, the centuries-old Kofar Mata dye pits and the horseback Durbar festival held at Eid. Most residents are Hausa-speaking Muslims, and Kano is the largest city in northern Nigeria[^1]. ## Kano and Bitcoin Obama Kano is the one place Bitcoin Obama names consistently. Every one of his X profiles has listed it, including @obama__nastty, his main account since April 2026. In August 2024 he wrote: > To lessen the crypto scammers in Nigeria, I am running for the 11th assembly representative of the Nigerian National Assembly delegation of Kano, together with my backers we will strive to make Nigeria a better place so crypto isn’t polluted by scammers. Bitcoin Obama 2027[^2] The run gave him his bio line, “Candidate for the 11th Nigerian Assembly Delegation Representative” (see [President](https://bitcoinobama.com/lore#president)). In November 2024 he retweeted a fan's pledge “for the Nigerian representative of Kano”, which promised to “stop Boko Haram”[^3]. At the end of that year another account announced a joke “KANO QUANTUM RESEARCH COOPERATION” under the same assembly delegation, with Bitcoin Obama as “PROJECT LEADER”[^4]. The community has treated Kano as his base from early on. In July 2023 a holder joked that “the american people are a proxy for kano nigerians ushering bitcoin obama to the polls”[^5]. In October 2023, during the [Sproto wells](https://bitcoinobama.com/bitcoinvillage) drive, another member planned three mechanical wells in Kano State[^6]. By 2026 X's own Grok was describing him as “a Kano-based crypto content creator”[^7] who is “running for office in Kano”[^8]. [Morelight](https://bitcoinobama.com/morelight), his self-styled “father”, wrote in June 2026 that “Kano State is where Bitcoin Obama lives”[^9]. He does not always post from Kano. He once ran for mayor of Abuja, and in May 2026 he told a follower “I am in Abuja”[^10]. [Sani](https://bitcoinobama.com/sani), the man he calls “my midget”, speaks Hausa, Kano's main language, according to the [podcast](https://bitcoinobama.com/podcast) notes.
