“Bitcoin Obama” (song)

This article is about the 2024 song by Southside Ferris. For the Nigerian crypto shiller, see Bitcoin Obama.

“Bitcoin Obama” is a hip-hop song by Southside Ferris (SouthsideFerris), a rapper and producer from the South Side of Chicago. It is track 5 of his 12-track album $een $ome $hit, released on his own label, DEWSQUAD MONEY RECORDZ, in November 2024; Apple Music dates the album Nov 23, 2024.[1] Ferris produced the track himself and posted a music video for it on X on Dec 5, 2024. The song is a money brag built on the line shown in the video as “MAKING MONEY CALL ME BITCOIN / OBAMA STEAL YO MONEY”. Despite the title, no connection has been found between the song and Bitcoin Obama, the Nigerian shiller of HarryPotterObamaSonic10Inu ($BITCOIN), who is the subject of this wiki.

Release

The track runs 1:48, is marked explicit and carries the ISRC QZZ7P2406785.[1] It is on Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify. Ferris put the album on YouTube first: on Nov 26, 2024 (1:00 AM CT) he wrote that anyone could “listen to my new album early” there, with “Streaming services soon!”[2] He shared the YouTube playlist again on Nov 29.[3]

Bitcoin was on his mind at the time. On Nov 27, 2024 (2:51 PM CT) he posted: “Just made my first investment into bitcoin. Shout out the bro for putting me on 💯”.[4]

Music video

Ferris posted the video on X on Dec 5, 2024, at 3:26 AM CT:

The video is 1:27 long. It opens with the title card “SOUTHSIDEFERRIS - BITCOIN OBAMA” over shots of Ferris at a laptop and screens of price charts. It then cuts to him rapping in a dark room with glowing green eyes, the lyrics shown as on-screen captions, and ends on the Dew Squad logo. The same week he posted videos for “Dancing W The Devil” and “Oval Office”.[5][6]

Lyrics

The title line comes about 50 seconds into the video, split across two captions: “MAKING MONEY CALL ME BITCOIN”, then “OBAMA STEAL YO MONEY”. Other captions include “SMILING AT THE CAMERAS”, “REMOVING ALL MY BANDAGES”, “LIKE SOME ANALYST I RAP”, “EVEN OFF THE CANNABIS”, “I GO INSANE FOR THE GAME”, “NAIL IN THE COFFIN, PULL YOUR HAMMER OUT” and “BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA”. The captions are the only published text of the lyrics; no official lyric sheet has been found.

Relationship with Bitcoin Obama

None found. Neither Ferris's posts about the song nor the on-screen lyrics mention the Nigerian Bitcoin Obama, his accounts, $BITCOIN or Nigeria, and a search of X found no exchanges between the two. The song came out the same week Ferris wrote about his first bitcoin purchase. It reads as a Chicago rapper's money brag that happens to use the same two words. Bitcoin Obama's own name comes from the HPOS10I coin (see Name and nicknames), and he makes his own songs for the coins he shills (see Persona and style). If a link between the two turns up, it will be added here.
