Southside Ferris (written SouthsideFerris; display name “$outhsideFerris”, @southsideferris) is a rapper, songwriter, producer and guitarist from the South Side of Chicago. He releases his music through his own label, DEWSQUAD MONEY RECORDZ. In November 2024 he released a song called “Bitcoin Obama”, track 5 of his album $een $ome $hit, and on Dec 5, 2024 he posted a music video for it on X. The song shares its title with Bitcoin Obama, the Nigerian shiller of HarryPotterObamaSonic10Inu ($BITCOIN), but no link between Ferris and Obama has been found. The song is about making money with bitcoin, and its title line is a money brag.

Release

“Bitcoin Obama” is track 5 of $een $ome $hit, a 12-track hip-hop album credited to SouthsideFerris and released by DEWSQUAD MONEY RECORDZ. Apple Music gives the album's release date as Nov 23, 2024. The track runs 1:48 and is marked explicit.[6][7] It is also on Deezer[8] and Spotify. Ferris put the album on YouTube first. On Nov 26, 2024 (1:00 AM CT) he wrote that anyone who wanted to “listen to my new album early” could find it there, with “Streaming services soon!”[9] On Nov 29 he shared the YouTube playlist again.[10][11]

The album's tracks are “Nothing To It”, “9 To 5”, “I Think I Have Autism”, “Can't Go Broke”, “Bitcoin Obama”, “The Long Nights”, “Dopest Dope”, “Badder”, “Never Come Down”, “Ray Of Sunshine” (featuring thcepek), “Hell Yea” and “American Eagle”.[7]

Bitcoin was on his mind at the time. On Nov 27, 2024 (2:51 PM CT), a few days after the album came out, he posted: “Just made my first investment into bitcoin. Shout out the bro for putting me on 💯”.[12]

Music video

Ferris posted the music video on X on Dec 5, 2024, at 3:26 AM CT:

The video is 1:27 long. It opens with the title card “SOUTHSIDEFERRIS - BITCOIN OBAMA” over shots of Ferris at a laptop and screens of price charts. It then cuts to him rapping in a dark room, his eyes glowing green, with the lyrics as on-screen captions. It ends on the Dew Squad logo. The title line comes about 50 seconds in, split across two captions: “MAKING MONEY CALL ME BITCOIN”, then “OBAMA STEAL YO MONEY”. Other captions include “SMILING AT THE CAMERAS”, “REMOVING ALL MY BANDAGES”, “LIKE SOME ANALYST I RAP”, “I GO INSANE FOR THE GAME” and “NAIL IN THE COFFIN, PULL YOUR HAMMER OUT”.

The same week Ferris posted videos for “Dancing W The Devil” and “Oval Office”, and a few days later one for “All Mine”.[13][14][15]

Relationship with Bitcoin Obama

None found. The song is named “Bitcoin Obama”, but neither Ferris's posts about it nor the on-screen lyrics of the video mention the Nigerian Bitcoin Obama, his accounts, $BITCOIN or Nigeria, and a search of X found no exchanges between the two. The track came out the same week Ferris wrote about his first bitcoin purchase. It reads as a Chicago rapper's money brag that happens to use the same two words. Bitcoin Obama's name comes from the HPOS10I coin, and he has his own songs for the trenchers. If a link between the two turns up, it will be added here.
